The2FunAdGuyz offer a new, high-quality reproduction print of a World War II United States Coast Guard recruitment poster done by Thomas A. Byrne. The Federal Arts Project, part of the WPA War Services of Louisiana was the sponsor. The poster sought recruits among the operators of small boats around NOLA to serve in the United States Coast Guard. New Orleans was a major hub of war activity, both as a port from which ships carrying war supplies sailed and many war contractors were located there. The Coast Guard helped protect the port of New Orleans and small boat operators came with some understanding of maritime skills. In the poster, an armed United States Coast Guard cutter races through the water, suggesting a life of adventure for new recruits.
Many classroom teachers find this poster an ideal classroom teachers aid since it addressed the Federal Arts Project of the WPA and recruitment activity during World War II.
