Here is a vintage and original pre-WWI U.S. Army "The Army Horse in Accident and Disease" manual. This one is identified as belonging to Private lawrence Miles who attached toTroop "H" of the 14th U.S. Cavalry. Well worn, but still a nice item. This one was marked as being issued to the Mounted Service School, Fort Riley, Kansas, 1909.
