Vintage 1940'S WWII N-1 U.S.N. NAVY DECK JACKET COAT Sz 40 CONTRACT NXsx 73714:
$352
WW2 US Navy Deck Coat N-1 Alpaca lined Jacket
This is an original WW2 issue Navel deck coat for cold weather.
It comes from the estate sale of Lt. W. K. Brock, U.S.N. of Nashville, TN.
From what I learned from the family was that, Lt. Brock served up near the Aleutian Islands and then ended up over in the Atlantic side for the invasion of Normandy. His wife, who is very old, said he fought on D-Day. He did have campaign ribbons from both theaters of war. I could not get the family to dig up any paperwork, and I assume he was just on a ship that may or may not have been part of the invasion fleet.
I received several items from the sale and I debated whether or not to split them up. I decided to put them in 3 separate sales on , spaced 10 minutes apart. Please look at the my other sales for more of his stuff. I have his dress uniform, cold weather long johns, gloves, deck pants and the N-1 Deck Jacket, all will be listed in 3 separate sales.
This jacket is basically known as an N-1, although that designation actually came later. It is lined with alpaca, or basically, it’s fuzzy wool lined.
The condition of the jacket is as follows:
Fading to the outside from sunlight and storage.
Very little to no wear on the cuffs.
It does have several holes on the front (see photos) that the family tried to say were from bullets and shrapnel, but trust me, I think a mouse just chewed on it a bit, or it got snagged on something.
A little of the alpaca is missing from one spot on the collar on the right rear towards the inside (it does not really show much).
Zipper is a Talon and it works.
Size is a 40
Tag is coming loose, but it’s still there and reads:
