RARE WWI 2ND DIVISION UNIT HISTORY BOOK - 9TH INFANTRY, COMPANY F- AUTHOR SIGNED:
$112
See the images. I recently acquired a nice collection of World War I unit histories that I'll be listing on the week. This sale is for a book titled "THE ADVENTURES OF AN AMERICAN DOUGHBOY". Company F, 9th U.S. Infantry.
Written by William Brown, printed by Smith-Kinney, Tacoma, Washington, 1919, Dornbusch #1811, Controvich #3781, size 5 5/8" x 8", 77 pages. A well-written narrative of the author's experiences with the 9th Infantry during the war, as arranged by Birdeena Tuttle, with some brief statistical data regarding the 2nd Division at the back. Company F fought at Soissons in July and came out of that battle with just forty men. The author also fought at St. Mihiel and was then hospitalized near death for five months with the flu. He was an observant soldier and this book has some interesting passages and details of WWI service, wounds, battles, etc.
Condition excellent with gilt red cloth cover, author inscription to inside opposite front cover, light shelf wear, some light foxing to inside, binding tight and holding well. Signed at the front, "Compliments of the author, Wm. Brown."
